Admissions

The Fur Institute has a lengthy waiting list for candidates and requires the following paperwork to be completed prior to acceptance into the Certified Professional Pet Stylist program session of your choice:

  • Completed Application
  • Completed Notice of Intent
  • Signed Graduate Report
  • Copy of your high school transcript or proof that you have passed our entrance exam
  • Completed Alberta Student Enrollment Contract IMPORTANT: Prior to the payment of any application or registration fees, the Alberta Student Enrollment Contract must be signed pursuant to SECTION 14 of the Private Vocational Training Act.

* $150 Application Fee Is Credited Towards Tuition Upon Acceptance, but is not refundable if you are not accepted for any reason.

Standard Admission Requirements:

Students must meet ONE of the following criteria:

  • Alberta High School diploma, verified by transcript, with 50% or better in English 30 or 33, or non-Alberta equivalent.
  • OR Successful completion of the General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) with a standard score of 50% or better in English.

Mature Admission Requirements:

Students must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Eighteen years of age
  • Out of school for two years
  • Successful result on an aptitude test chosen by the school
  • Thirty-three credits toward an Alberta High School diploma, verified by transcript, with 50% or better in English 10 or 13, or non-Alberta equivalent.

    Write a letter including the following text: "To Whom It May Concern: I do not have access to the records necesary to meet the admission requirements for The Fur Institute, but I wish to pursue admission without these requirements being met. I realize I do so at my own risk and accept responsibility for meeting the requirements of the program. Sincerely, (student's name)"

THESE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT NEGOTIABLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Once these conditions have been met, and you've completed a phone or in person interview with school administrator regarding the session of your choice, you will be sent your acceptance letter confirming your start date. The balance of tuition is due on the date that you begin the session and can be paid with cash, bank draft, debit, Visa, or Mastercard (we do not accept checks).
